Thank You!

Hey Group #3, here is one last blog post for the road...

I want to thank you all for a really great semester. I just had my final meeting with Feinberg and we went over the comments everyone made. I see a lot of places where I need to improve and I really appreciate your honesty.

I also completed my evaluations of all of you and the grade should be posted within the week, if you have any questions about the grade that I gave you, please feel free to ask me. I feel that I was very fair in my evaluations.

We were one of the highest performing groups and it was all because of your hardwork. Thanks again and if you ever need a helping hand, feel free to call me :-D

Group Memo

Hey Group #3, so here's the scoop...

So as of now, the Group Memo is following the exact criteria on the syllabus. The Group Memo has to be over a recent article, published within the last six months, from a business newspaper or magazine. The Memo has to be an evaluation, again, of leadership.

If you have any articles in mind, let me know. If I don't receive any feedback, I will be sending you an article by no later than sometime Saturday. When you receive this article, you will need to read it and outline key points. You will also need to write a brief summary about why this article displays leadership. All of this needs to be completed and sent to me by class time on Monday the 12th. If you do not send this to me, it will reflect in your participation grade for the project, since I will be asked to give out a participation report for this project.

We will be meeting after class on Monday, when we usually have our Monday meeting. Have ideas formulated at this point, because I will ask everyone to contribute. If you are interested in stepping up and being the one to type the paper while people give ideas, then please let me know.

I realize this is a very tight time frame for completion, but all groups are under this kind of pressure, so let's just control what we can and do the best job possible in the amount of time allotted. You are all expected to be at the meeting on Monday, if you cannot, you have to tell me before Monday and we will work out an individual meeting time with me.

If you have any questions let me know, I will be going home this weekend, but you will still be able to contact me. Have a great weekend and see you all of Monday!

Great Job!

Hey Group 3!

I just want to congratulate everyone on a job well done! Out of the 15 members of our group, 11 members were either mentioned as having a good or great paper or got a quote in the large document he sent out earlier today!

I am so proud of you guys and all of the hard work you did! I would like to recognize these individuals in particular:

Beth
Katie
Jeff
Michelle
Evan
Cassie
Kelsey
Sam
Jenna
Goang-sug
Maggy

Thank you for your hard work and contribution, Feinberg has noticed, I've noticed, and now Rick will also notice.

We all have room to grow, but I wanted you all to know how extremely proud I am of your accomplishments (you can even ask my roommates, I've been over here complimenting you guys out loud)

There are two pieces of business to care of for tomorrow:
1. Please know your grade out of 300 for tomorrow to give to me, so that I am able to get an average for our group

2. Bring me a print out of your schedule for everyday of the week, including any times you are not available, such as work. I will start to work towards finding a time when we can meet. Rick is supposed to give me more detailed information about the group memo after class tomorrow.

Thanks again for all of your hard work! Group #3 is definitely a force to be reckoned with!

Update

Test Reminders
-The test is this upcoming Wednesday March 24th: it is crucial that you are in class and that you take the test
-Please continue to work on your portion of the study guide and I will e-mail that out to everyone tomorrow evening
-Please read the instructions on the test VERY CAREFULLY. According to Rick, you will put your name NO WHERE on the exam, except a signature on one page. This is just what I have been told, so these aren't official instructions, so make sure that when you get the test you read it very carefully

Individual memo
-Rick does not know when Feinberg will have them graded
-I asked Rick to ask Feinberg, but he seemed reluctant since Feinberg is currently in California, so I will let you know as soon as I know

Group memo

-As of right now, the group memo due date is still April 7th
-I'm going to set up a more effective way of getting everyone's information, so that it is as painless as possible finding a time when we can all meet
-Note, that with the group memo I have to determine individual participation grades, so even if you haven't been very active in the group to this point, now is your time to step it up

This is all that I can think of at the moment. As always, feel free to contact me with any questions and once the test is over, I will address getting everyone's information and schedule.

Have a great night and best of luck studying!

Test, I Inc, and Notes

1st and foremost, I would like to address the test.

- the test WILL be on the Wednesday after Spring Break during class time, that's the 24th of March
- there will be NO Study Guide
- the test format will be 10-15 essay questions
- it's going to be over the two books in the syllabus
- you can locate the ship book here: http://www.cfs.purdue.edu/richardfeinberg/csr%20309%20spring%202010/ship/
- of course, standard testing rules stand as follows: no hats (or hats backwards), no sunglasses, and absolutely NO CHEATING

I very briefly wanted to make a note about the I Inc. Brochures. When the team leaders had the meeting after class yesterday we were given our teams average score on the I Inc. Brochure project, our group's average was 84.68%. We were the second lowest scoring group out of Rick's 9 groups. I do believe that our average will be much higher for the Individual Memo, but I want to let you guys know that in addition to being watched by Feinberg, we are also being watched by Rick.

And last, but of course not least, here are the notes from this week of classes:

Monday
- children's book "Stephanie's Ponytail"
- In 30 years from now, you will regret more the things you didn't do than the things you did
- You must be able to constantly change -> to achieve success you need a response of change
- 3 important things: change, principal, and choice
- If you get people to buy into common goals/ principles, then the leadership is already done
- have a vision for this class
- Most people wait to form their vision until they are in a crisis situation or at there lowest point, this is not necessarily the best time to do so
- Have one thing, and that's the only thing that matters

Wednesday
- What would people say about you at your funeral? Teachers? Friends? Family?
- What does this mean about you and your behaviors?
- Pat Carigan, prime example of Auto Labor vs. Management
- Used to be psychologist
- Pat doesn't know about autos/auto parts, she just created an environment where people can make parts
- people select for expertise, not positiveness and then wonder why everything is so gloomy, but it's because they selected for expertise and not positiveness
- supporting, enabling, empowering
- Pat Carigan's "thing" is people

Have a great Spring Break!

Our President

Our president is Rick, just in case you were wondering.

Individual Memo

Last minute reminders
- Your individual memo is due into Professor Feinberg's e-mail by 5 pm tomorrow!

- Make sure to check the Do Not Watch list... check it and DOUBLE check it. If your movie is on it, you cannot do it and you will have to rewrite it. (NOTE: Taken is on the Do Not Do list)

- When you send Feinberg the e-mail make sure to put "IM2" in the subject line

- You must include your name in the document with your actual paper, if you only put your name in the e-mail but not in the word document, YOU WILL NOT GET CREDIT!

- Inlude a bibliography with your paper, even if you only cite the movie you analyzed, you must include a bibliography

It isn't too late to get your paper reviewed, so if you send me your paper today I will get it back to you in time to make Feinberg's 5 o'clock deadline

Questions? Comments? Let me know!
